Please register for the Winter 2013 programs if that is your priority. You can always register later for the Christmas Break/New Year Break Camp. There is plenty of room available whereas many of our Winter Programs have limited availability.

Fusion Fun: Mudras with Amrita Choudhury and @Delhi2Dublin

16 Oct

A while back, I picked up Amrita Choudhury’s book on mudras to help me explain them in class and practice them myself!  Here’s her latest promotional video:

And since I am talking about the Bellywood fun in my world, I’ve also got plans to see Delhi2Dublin when they hit Ottawa at Maverick’s on October 25th.

They often seem to be here on a weeknight, but since it’s right after my Thursday Bellywood, class, I think I can manage to be a night owl for one night!
I totally love their new album and have used 2 of their songs for class routines already! Here’s one of their early songs that I have performed to at some events in the past:

Why I use video for choreos!

3 Apr

Creating choreographed pieces for my students and/ or troupe/group mates can be a fun and challenging experience. Years ago, before Bellywood, before I had a Mac, I would try to write out the routines for my students.
This is what I write now:

20120403-162421.jpg

And that’s why they never see this until now! These two routines are in the process of being developed. My dancing of it will be videotaped over the next few weeks and privately shared with the performers as they prepare for the June OCCP!

No notes- they now can make their own!!
See some of you tonight!!

Winter session winding up! Spring session begins in April

21 Mar

Last night was my last Bellywood class at Old Ottawa South for the January -March session and tonight will be the 4th last class at Dovercourt Recreations Centre.

In April, on the 3rd, I start up again at Old Ottawa South, and should be ready to get everyone dancing to a fun new routine!  And then on the 26th, if there is interest, I’ll run a 7:30-8:30 class at the Routhier Community Centre in the Byward market.  Both groups will learn the same routine and have the option to dance in June at my Ottawa Centre Class Party – a semi private show for 300 of my closest belly dance colleagues and their students!

So be sure to sign up and come out and have some fun!
