Also, my daughter is interested in trying belly dancing, but I don’t see too many teachers listed as being from West Ottawa (we’re in Kanata).

I don’t know of any classes in the Merrickville area, “Bellywood” is just starting to come into it’s own so it may take a while for teachers to emerge. Check out this link for a list of belly dance and bollywood teachers that I have to date.
Perhaps someone will be close enough to at least get you started!
